Have you read your stimulus bill?

And I speak metaphorically here.  When you purchase a home, do you read the mortgage documents in their entirety?   How about when you purchase a car – surely you read all of those documents, right?  We hold our Congressmen up to high standards ( and we should ), and they failed us miserably this time.  When it comes to matters of our personal finances, we should hold ourselves up to those same standards.  how can we make significant financial decisions, if we don’t really understand what we’re committing to? 

Sign nothing without reading every word

Most documents and contracts have two things in common.  They’re overly lengthy, and they’re incredibly boring.  I’d wager that they’re written this way on purpose – so that you won’t read them!  Don’t fall into that trap – chances are very good you’ll end up getting burned.  Read every page, every word.  You may find something that you strongly disagree with – and it may change your mind.  Take the time, read everything.  Don’t be a Congressman.
