When it comes to financial matters, we like to put things off.  I do it.  You do it.  Most people do - no reason to deny it.  It’s just so much easier to say that we’ll do it tomorrow.

The problem, of course, is that tomorrow never comes.  The late  General George Patton said it best, with the title of this post:

“A good plan today is better than a perfect plan tomorrow.”

Sit down, with your spouse if you’re married, today.  Right now if you can, but today nonetheless.  Get out all your financial statements and go over them.  Create a budget.  Figure out how to stick to it.  Set goals, and figure out how you’re going to achieve them.  Your plan won’t be perfect - but that’s ok.  Get a plan right now, today, and you’ll be in better financial shape tomorrow.

If you wait for tomorrow, you’ll eventually realize that it never comes.
